Wiltshire Wood Recycling diverts wood from the waste stream and creates opportunities for local community members. They collect waste wood from construction sites and other businesses at a lower cost than hiring a conventional skip bin. The reclaimed wood is graded and either sold at discounted rates or used to make quality wood products for local community groups, schools, playgrounds, or the public. Low quality wood is sold as kindling and firewood or sent to a chipboard manufacturer. Wiltshire Wood Recycling prevents usable resources from entering landfills and reduces demand for new timber and further deforestation. The wood waste is collected using small economical vehicles, loaded by hand, and used locally to minimize the carbon footprint. Through this service, Wiltshire Wood Recycling is able to offer woodworking training, apprenticeships, paid work placements, and volunteer opportunities to local people who either face barriers to employment or want to contribute to the community. Wiltshire Wood Recycling is a registered not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), a certified Living Wage Employer and a Disability Confident Employer, and a member of Community Wood Recycling and Social Enterprise UK. They reinvest all surplus towards their purpose.

Without by Ashaya is reimagining pollution and poverty in India by increasing the value of waste and empowering waste-pickers out of poverty. They focus on transforming the most difficult kind of plastic waste—the metalized multi-layered plastic (MLP) packaging used in chip packets and sachets—into quality materials and products. Post-consumer MLP waste is considered economically and technically impossible to recycle and goes directly to landfills and waterways. Without sources MLP waste from local collectives of women waste pickers at a premium, creating a new income stream. They also hire and train informal waste pickers providing them with safe, dignified work, increased incomes, and benefits like health insurance. The Without team chemo-mechanically extracts quality materials from MLP and produces stylish recycled sunglasses and other products as a proof of concept. They use sustainably sourced, plastic-free packaging from Corugami, provide carbon-neutral delivery through Farmers For Forest, and collect products for end-of-life recycling.
