Bird Eyewear

Bird Eyewear makes pioneering prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses, and blue light blocking glasses from sustainably and ethically sourced materials. They use certified woods, bio-based acetate, recycled aluminum, and renewable cork. Their bamboo, wood, and acetate frames can be composted, and their laminated aluminum frames can be separated and recycled. Customers are able to send back old frames for 50 percent off a new pair. Bird works with a local frame repair company to reuse elements from the frames and minimize waste. Bird is currently carbon neutral and is working towards extracting more carbon than they produce. Their cleaning cloths are made from recycled plastic bottles, their mailer bags are made from sugarcane, and their packaging is reusable, recyclable, and compostable. For every pair of glasses sold, Bird distributes solar lights to families in Zambia and Malawi through their Share Your Sun partnership with SolarAid. Bird Eyewear is a certified B Corporation and part of Surfers Against Sewage and the Better Business campaign.

Birdsong

Birdsong is a "no sweatshop, no photoshop" fashion brand for people who dress in protest–against fast fashion, against the obsessive pursuit of trends, and against the systematic abuse of women in the production line. They create original wardrobe staples that are ethical, sustainable, and made in the United Kingdom by women who face barriers to employment. Birdsong produces in partnership with a variety of women's organizations, from refugee seamstresses to octogenarian knitters, and pays a London living wage. They use discarded fabrics that would otherwise go to landfill, compostable textiles like GOTS certified organic cotton, OEKO-Tex certified bamboo, and Tencel, and reclaimed fibers like recycled polyster. Packaging and order fulfillment is done by Mail Out, a social enterprise that provides training and living wage work for adults with autism or learning disabilities. Birdsong thinks all bodies are good bodies. They offer a wide range of sizes and show the friends and activists who model for them as they are, with no airbrushing.

BitGreen Foundation

BitGreen started in late 2017 as a community initiative to build an energy efficient alternative to Bitcoin and demonstrate that blockchain has the potential to achieve a better world without environmental harm. In 2019, the energy efficiency target was achieved, and the BitGreen Foundation was formally incorporated as a nonprofit organization with a new, even more audacious, goal of having BITG, the unit of value created by the BitGreen blockchain, become a globally adopted, impact-based currency that incentivizes impactful action and catalyzes the growing movement towards a regenerative economy. Anyone can download the BitGreen wallet mobile app and begin earning BITG for everyday actions that benefit people and the planet. Earned BITG can be used to purchase from sustainable businesses or support a favorite cause. BitGreen is a closed loop impact ecosystem: you earn for doing good, and you do good when you spend within the BitGreen community.
