Common Ground Project includes a regenerative organic community farm, farmhouse cafe, food hub markets, an online shop, school programs, farm tours, community volunteering days, workshops, cooking experiences, and other events. Their Staying Grounded program provides training and employment pathways in farming and hospitality for migrant and refugee women and other people facing disadvantage. Communities Magazine was founded in 1972 to share information, stories, and ideas about intentional communities, including urban co-ops, cohousing groups, ecovillages, and rural communes. They explore the joys and challenges of cooperation and provide an educational platform for people interested in intentional community and other cooperative arrangements that emphasize sharing and living locally in balance with one another and the rest of the planet. This includes creating and enhancing community in workplaces, activist organizations, and neighborhoods. Communities Magazine is sustained through subscriptions, donations, and values-aligned advertisements. Each quarterly issue focuses on a specific theme, and subscribers have access to the full archive of back issues for online viewing or download. Communities Magazine is published by Global Ecovillage Network - United States, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Community Development Professionals (CDP) was started in 2003 to help communities across the United States thrive. They provide strategic coaching, training, tools, and services that help local nonprofits, social enterprises, community partnerships, and affordable housing initiatives get organized, access funding, and operate more efficiently and effectively. CDP is committed to an affordable service structure with monthly membership options, payment plans, and scholarships. Community TV Network (CTVN) empowers Chicago's youth through the creative and collaborative process of modern video production. They started as a special project of the Alternative Schools Network in 1974, became an independent nonprofit in 1980, and launched Hard Cover as a youth-produced local cable news program in 1986. CTVN offers professional development workshops, in-school and after-school programs, a digital media leadership track program, and professional video production services for Chicago area clients. Hard Cover is now available online and is one of the longest-running youth-produced shows in the United States. All CTVN programs promote youth voices and positive community development. They give students the awareness, motivation, and tools they need to create positive futures for themselves and the people around them. Community Wood Recycling has been reducing wood waste, saving resources, creating workplace opportunities, and changing lives since 1998. They started by developing a commercial wood waste collection service in Brighton, supplying reclaimed timber for home and garden projects, creating recycled wooden products for local use, and providing volunteer opportunities, training, and pathways to employment for people who have been excluded from the workforce. They now serve as a national network of wood recycling social enterprises across the United Kingdom. The network has provided training to thousands of people and saved hundreds of thousands of tons of wood from becoming waste. Community Wood Recycling is an accredited Living Wage Employer and a member of Social Enterprise UK, Wood Recyclers Association, and Social Firms Europe CEFEC. They are registered as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and reinvest all surplus towards their mission.
ComMutiny - The Youth Collective builds empowering spaces and ecosystems to nurture the leadership potential of young people to become "Jagriks" and transform self and society. Jagrik combines "jagruk," meaning awakened and aware, and "nagrik," meaning citizen, and is used to refer to awakened, active citizens. The initiative was started by more than 200 youth-centric organizations and practitioners across India. Together, they cocreate innovative open source training materials, games, and toolkits to build the capacity of youth workers and organize youth leadership journeys, campaigns, and large scale public initiatives across India. ComMutiny actively participates in other forums and alliances including Catalyst 2030, Youth for Sustainability Alliance, Learning Planet, and Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers Association (CAYWA). All profits are reinvested towards their mission of "every youth a Jagrik, every space nurturing Jagriks."
ConnectHear bridges the communication gap between the deaf community and the rest of society and gives deaf individuals the tools they need for accessible communication and independent living. They train and certify Pakistani Sign Language interpreters and provide professional onsite and video call interpretation services. These services are free for deaf individuals and paid for by event organizers, workplaces, emergency hotlines, banks, hospitals, shops, and other institutional partners. ConnectHear also offers audio to sign language software, sign language video production, workshops on deaf accessibility, sign language training programs for hearing people, and ConnectTV, an infotainment channel with sign language interpreted content. They use their platform to create awareness about the deaf community, teach common sign language phrases, aand create opportunities for deaf people to share their stories and perspectives. ConnectHear is part of the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters and Pakistan Association of the Deaf.
Connecting2Ability (C2A) was founded in 1953 to provide individualized care and inclusive opportunities for people with disability in Victoria. Their community hubs offer activities and programs to build independence, increase social interaction and community engagement, and improve wellbeing. C2A's employment programs provide skills training, personal development, and increased financial independence for people with disability and help organizations use their buying power to generate social value. Their teams of supported employees and disability support workers provide a wide range of commercial services including grounds and garden maintenance, fleet vehicle cleaning, commercial cleaning, screenprinting, assembly and packaging, recycling, secondhand shops, and timber furniture production. They use responsibly sourced local timber and donate timber scraps and dust for local reuse. Customers can select from available products, get existing designs made to order, or work with Connecting NER to create custom designs.
Connection Crew provides teams of talented people to solve complex production challenges and creates employment pathways for people affected by homelessness. They specialize in crewing services for film, television, theater, festivals, events, construction, and facilities management. Connection Crew works with charity partners to reach people who are at risk or have lived experience of homelessness and could benefit from their training, mentoring, and employment opportunities.
