Medawatta is a rural enterprise that specializes in value-added food products. Raw materials are sustainably sourced from local home gardens. Popular options include cinnamon kithul palm sugar, ginger kithul palm sugar, kithul syrup, kithul flour, green pepper sauce, nutmeg jam, and nutmeg chutney. Medawatta is registered under the Gannoruwa Food Research Institute.


Meddu Natural Farming Producers Group

Meddu Natural Farming Producer Group is a cluster of small-scale organic farmers in eastern Sri Lanka committed to growing affordable natural food and protecting the environment. They produce their own compost, liquid fertilizers, and biopesticides from locally available materials. Crops include dry zone vegetables, leafy greens, and legumes. Members also grow ginger, turmeric, cassava, banana, papaya, guava, lime, orange, mango, king coconut, coconut, cashew, jackfruit, and moringa. ​Meddu Natural Farming Producer Group is verified under a local organic participatory guarantee system (PGS).

Media Cause is a mission-driven marketing and creative agency that helps nonprofits, social enterprises, and NGOs grow their reach and accelerate their impact. #MeForYou Movement

#MeForYou Movement is a collective of young professionals in Sri Lanka who come together to support their fellow citizens during natural and man-made disasters. Based on needs identified by local disaster response groups, they mobilize donations, resources, and volunteers for the affected areas.

Mehendi Touch Q applies temporary tattoos called mehendi using a natural dye that’s handmade from henna leaves and essential oils. Henna is an antimicrobial medicinal plant with cooling properties. Mehendi Touch Q is committed to using all natural and environmentally responsible ingredients. They donate 2 percent of revenue to provide educational supplies for children from low income families.


Mehera Shaw

Mehera Shaw is a fair trade social enterprise that specializes in hand block printed textiles, housewares, women's clothing, and accessories and supports artisans in the Jaipur region of India. Their commitment to environmentally responsible practices includes using organic certified cotton, ahimsa silk, handloom fabric, vegetable dyes, and azo-free fiber reactive dyes, minimizing waste in pattern layouts, developing upcycled products from post-production scrap fabric, and filtering and recycling water. They also educate customers about conscious consumption, recycling, mending, and wash care for longer garment life. Mehera Shaw sources all raw materials from India and invests in either family owned, cottage industry, or cooperative fabric suppliers. They provide a one-month salary bonus, health insurance, and pension funds for all workers and donate one percent of profits to their sister organization Meher Road Foundation to support skills training for textile artisans in Rajasthan. Mehera Shaw is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization, Common Objective, Artisan Alliance, and Craftmark.


Mei Flynn Holistic Coaching

Mei Flynn aims to help people heal themselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually, so they in turn are able to help their local community and the planet. Services include workshops, retreats, metaphysical counselling, and holistic treatments like Raindrop Treatment, which combines reflexology, acupressure and aromatherapy. Proceeds from workshops are used to support participation by individuals who cannot afford to pay. Mei Flynn focuses on collaborating with and supporting other small businesses.


Melted Inside

Melted Inside is an online multi-vendor marketplace that makes it easier for people to find and access artisan food and drink products from the United Kingdom. They help food and drink makers connect directly with consumers and provide an alternative to conventional supply chains. This reduces food miles and carbon emissions and strengthens local communities. Melted Inside prioritizes suppliers that benefit people and planet through fair trade, organic practices, responsible sourcing, and community support. They encourage resource sharing and help makers connect with independent photographers and writers for marketing materials.


Memo's Beach

Memo's Beach is a boutique hotel and cafe on Nilaveli beach in Trincomalee that focuses on women's empowerment, environmental responsibility and animal welfare. They are committed to providing a safe and supportive workplace, and all of their staff are local women. Buildings are made from local wood and natural materials. Whenever possible, furniture, housewares, supplies, and ingredients are sourced from Sri Lankan artisans, small businesses, and farmers. Memo's avoids plastic, uses bamboo and metal straws, and provides shampoo, soap, and other toiletries in reusable glass bottles. They organize community beach cleaning and donate to Underdog Sri Lanka, the only organization supporting stray dogs in the Trincomalee area.


Menaka Organic Farm

Menaka Organic Farm aims to provide healthy agricultural products, build a better future for the next generation, and maintain and improve the natural ecosystem through sustainable practices. Crops include green gram, black gram, ground nut, cassava, and dry zone vegetables. They use dried leaves, crop residue, cow dung, poultry manure, and other locally sourced materials to produce mulch, compost, liquid fertilizers, and pest repellents. Menaka Organic Farm distributes products directly to local consumers and raises awareness about organic techniques. They are verified under a local organic participatory guarantee system (PGS).


Mended

Mended provides economic empowerment to survivors of modern-day slavery in South Asia through the production of hand block printed housewares and accessories. They work with survivors of bonded labor slavery in a rural area with limited access to water and electricity. Mended provides training in the art of block printing, above-market pay, and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Their reusable cotton tea towels and napkins provide an alternative to synthetic materials and single-use paper products. Mended has collaborated with public figures, music groups, and other partners to expand impact and increase the visibility of the fight to end modern-day slavery.


Menhandy School for the Exceptional Child

Menhandy is a school for children with special needs. It was started to provide educational opportunities for young people with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and developmental disabilities in Sri Lanka. They help students develop the skills to lead more independent and fruitful lives, and they work with parents to provide a more enriching home environment. Menhandy School for the Exceptional Child does not discriminate based on religion, caste, ethnicity, or social background.


MentorMe

MentorMe helps women in German-speaking countries find their path and achieve their professional goals through individual mentoring, job-focused training, and networking events. Their one-year mentoring program matches mentees with mentors that have relevant experience, specialist knowledge, and contacts. Program participants also have access to online training courses on topics like nonviolent communication, personal branding, presenting, team leadership, negotiating, project management, and finance. Community networking events include company visits, evenings with experts, workshops, lectures, and monthly meetups. Partner companies benefit from improved recruitment and retention, tax-deductible personnel development, and corporate social responsibility recognition. MentorMe provides discounts and stipends to low-income women who want to become mentees. They also have a disability community group that focuses on the unique challenges of women with disabilities. MentorMe is a member of Social Entrepreneurship Netzwerk Deutschland (SEND).


Mercado PAX

Mercado PAX is an online marketplace in Uruguay and Argentina that makes it easier to purchase local food, personal care, home goods, clothing, accessories, children's products, and gift boxes that create positive change in the world. Each PAX product is developed to solve social and environmental problems. Customers are able to choose their impact priorities and search by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mercado PAX provides transparent information on ingredients, materials, who makes each product, and their purpose. They work closely with suppliers and support them to develop their businesses. Mercado PAX uses their platform to raise awareness about ethical consumption and sustainability.


Merchant House

Merchant House offers villa accommodation near Ahangama on Sri Lanka's southern coast. The colonial building is more than one hundred year old and has been carefully restored and modernized with four rooms for guests. Merchant House is committed to social and environmental responsibility. They have invested in rainwater harvesting, solar water heating, and solar electricity. Surplus electricity is sold to the national grid. The team minimizes single use plastic by bringing reusable bags for shopping and providing drinks in glass or refillable bottles. They clean the nearby beach regularly, segregate waste, and partner with the Thalpe Recycling Center. Merchant House sources as many food ingredients and supplies as possible from local village markets and is working to develop direct sourcing relationships with local farmers. They sponsor a local cricket team, animal welfare activities, and other community initiatives.


Mere Care

Mere Care was founded by a woman doctor in the Solomon Islands to improve the health and wellbeing of local women. Nearly three out of four of the women they serve in Honiara are victims of domestic and gender based violence. Mere Care takes a holistic approach that includes health education workshops, mobile clinics, telemedicine services, water filtration systems, economic empowerment talks, advocacy, and partnerships. They donate 10 percent of their earning to community service. Mere Care is part of yher Pacific, Pacific Connect, and other regional networks.


Merry Go Round Toys

Merry Go Round Toys reduces waste and helps make quality children's toys accessible and affordable for all. They accept secondhand toys on a donation or consignment basis and sell them online and through marketplace events. They also sell new wooden toys that are handmade by the Redland Bay Men's Shed. Merry Go Round Toys quality checks and sanitizes all toys, and the Men's Shed assists with repairs if needed. They provide donated toys to children in need through Bayside Salvation Army and Share the Dignity, contribute a portion of donated toy sales to both programs, and give consignors the opportunity to do the same.


MESA

MESA cultivates a global grassroots network of food and farming leaders dedicated to reviving community food systems. They offer an online learning platform, international farmer-to-farmer training and cultural exchange programs, and experiential learning opportunities. MESA supports ecological farming and food justice projects including new farms, CSAs, farmers’ markets, school gardens, field schools, farm-to-table business, and women farmer cooperatives, all based in the models of agroecology and food sovereignty.
