Mifuko

Mifuko is a "radically sustainable" fair trade social enterprise that celebrates the fusion of Nordic design and African handicraft. They create unique housewares and accessories, empower women, nurture craftsmanship, and contribute to the wellbeing of artisans, their families, and their communities. Mifuko specializes in baskets and basket bags that are handmade in Kenya from local sisal, upcycled and recycled plastic, unbleached paper, milulu grass, palm leaves, and vegetable tanned leather. They also create ornaments, candle holders, soap dishes, scarves, and other products in partnership with fair trade workshops in Ghana, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. Mifuko donates to the Mifuko Trust, a not-for-profit organization founded in 2012 to support artisans' communities in the Machakos region of Kenya. The Trust works with more than two dozen women's self-help groups on locally initiated projects like solar lamps, rain water collection tanks, compost toilets, tile production, and tree planting. Mifuko is a guaranteed member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO).


Miharu

Miharu supports and revives traditional crafts of West Bengal through contemporary design. They specialize in handmade Dhokra brass jewelry and housewares and handwoven Baluchari silk saris and dupattas. Dhokra is a lost wax form of metal casting that has been practiced in India for more than 4,000 years. Miharu jewelry and housewares are made from recycled brass and are packed in recycled fabric bags and plastic free packaging. They support artisans with education for family members, medical expenses, machinery, housing, capacity building, and other needs and donate five percent of profits through GiveIndia. Miharu is certified by Craftmark.


Miheli Terrarium

Miheli Terrariums uses indigenous Sri Lankan ferns and succulents to create modern terrariums for the home or office. Terrariums help with air purification and can be used to illustrate how ecosystems, photosynthesis, respiration, and natural water cycles work. Miheli Terrariums is committed to environmentally responsible practices and does not use synthetic agrichemicals or other additives.


Mihikasun Nirmana

Mihikasun Nirmana works with the surrounding rural community to produce baskets and other housewares from iratu, the midrib of coconut fronds. Their goal is to provide Sri Lankans with environmentally responsible alternatives to imported plastic products.


Mihithala Mithuro

Mihithala Mithuro is a community-based environmental organization that started in 1994 to protect the Kodigahakanda forest reserve. Rock quarries in the area have affected biodiversity, fresh water supply, and the health of local villagers. Mihithala Mithuro, which means "friends of the earth," focuses on helping people live with nature and have a healthy life. The group produces natural personal care products and household cleaners including herbal shampoo, medicinal balm, herbal inhalers, massage oil, and washing detergents. They also have organically grown local greens and yams. Proceeds from product sales are used to organize training and awareness programs on natural farming and environmental sustainability.


Mikado

Mikado crafts models for sustainable development and provides strategic consulting and trainings on sustainability, community investment, and social impact. They accelerate corporate sustainability transformations and help organizations establish impact management and reporting systems, build inclusive business models and community investment programs, and support the development of the social entrepreneurship ecosystem in Türkiye. Mikado uses revenue from their sustainable development consulting services to develop their own social innovation projects. They also provide training programs, wellbeing opportunities, and other benefits for employees. Mikado is a certified B Corporation and part of Ashoka, Catalyst 2030, Global Action Plan (GAP) International, and UN Global Compact Türkiye.


Milaniya

Milaniya produces aromatic and therapeutic essential oils, oil blends, and natural soaps in Sri Lanka from local ingredients. They are known for their cinnamon bark essential oil, massage oil blends, joint and muscle pain blend, migraine relief blend, and soaps made with blue lotus, lemongrass, Ceylon cinnamon, vetiver, cypress, fennel seed, neem, rosemary, and roasted coffee. Milaniya purchases raw materials directly from farmers to eliminate middlemen, benefit producers, reduce prices for customers, and improve freshness and quality. Waste materials from the steam distillation process are used to make compost.


Mile High WorkShop

Mile High WorkShop partners with production-based businesses to create employment opportunities and provide job training for people rebuilding from addictions, homelessness, and incarceration. They offer assembly, packaging, labeling, kitting, storage, and inventory management services for small, growing businesses and established, multinational corporations. The banner upcycling department helps partners reduce their landfill waste by transforming retired billboards and used vinyl banners into durable bags. Products made from donated materials are sold as part of their Second Chance Series. In addition to on-the-job training, Mile High WorkShop offers support for soft skill development, peer-to-peer and non-clinical addiction recovery, and the transition to permanent employment or educational opportunities. They have developed a network of employers amenable to hiring people with histories of addiction, incarceration, and homelessness and they help participants develop resumes and prepare for interviews. Mile High WorkShop is registered as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and is a member of Social Enterprise Alliance.


Milk & Honey Cafe

Milk is a shop in Colombo that specializes in children's books, learning toys, and clothing and organizes regular creative activities and workshops for children and parents. They feature products from many social enterprises and organic and natural brands. Milk & Honey Cafe was established inside the shop to raise awareness about healthy lifestyles and encourage good eating habits from a young age. The cafe has all natural vegetarian food made from local and organic ingredients, whole grains and natural sweeteners. The menu includes salads, wraps, sandwiches, pasta, savory tarts, quiches, cookies, brownies, cakes, juices, and more. Vegan and gluten-free options are available. Milk contributes to the Sarvodaya Childrens Home in Akuressa.


Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship

Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship accelerates social entrepreneurship to end poverty and protect the planet with an emphasis on women’s economic empowerment and climate resilience. Founded in 2003 as a Center of Distinction at Santa Clara University, they fuse the entrepreneurial spirit of Silicon Valley with the university’s heritage of social justice, community engagement, and global impact guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They offer an investment readiness accelerator, scaling and replication initiatives, executive-level mentoring, impact investment opportunities, and ongoing alumni support. Miller Center also provides opportunities for Santa Clara University students to learn and work with social enterprises that are on the front lines of poverty eradication and sustainable development in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the United States.


MIM Organic Farm

MIM Organic Farm produces healthy organic food in northeastern Sri Lanka and provides it at affordable rates for low income families in their area. They focus on dry zone vegetables and leafy greens. MIM Organic Farm is verified under a local organic participatory guarantee system (PGS).


Minacle

Minacle supplies organic wellness foods and contributes to sustainable livelihoods for rural Sri Lankans. Products include organic certified moringa powder, herbs, spices, dried fruits, and capsules. Minacle prioritizes environmentally responsible farming practices to preserve soil health, reduce water use, minimize pollution, and support biodiversity. They ensure farmers and workers receive fair wages, and they contribute 10 percent of profits to rural community development. Minacle is part of Reforest Sri Lanka and donates to Little Hearts Foundation.


Min Agro Herbs

Min Agro Herbs works with a consortium of farming families in the Neluwa division of southern Sri Lanka to supply value-added Ceylon cinnamon, spices, green tea, black tea, and coconut products. Min Agro Herbs provides capacity building support and technical know-how and is committed to transparent direct trade relationships.


Mind, Brain, Body

Mind, Brain, Body (MBB) raises awareness of the mental health challenges faced by young people and supports young people to maintain their mental health and overall wellbeing through arts, music, sports, LEGO-based therapy, and other activities. They take a holistic approach that understands the importance of the connection between the mind, brain, and body. MBB is compiling free online resources for young people and is working to develop modernized youth centers that provide a safe space for young people to join at any time without any waiting lists. They are a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) and a member of Social Enterprise UK. All surplus is reinvested towards their mission.


Mindful Glass

Mindful Glass specializes in handmade glass pieces that can be used to set intentions and practice mindfulness throughout the day. They are made by melting soda-lime glass on a metal rod over an open flame. The molten glass flows and can be shaped by hand movements and tools. Each piece of Mindful Glass is unique. Different color palettes can be selected for different intentions. Like prayer beads, talismans, and other mindfulness tools, Mindful Glass can be held to focus on the present moment, remember a loved one, transition to healthy habits, or support an environmentally responsible practice. The goal is to support personal growth and wellbeing and help create a better world. Mindful Glass donates to Beads of Courage, a nonprofit that serves children living with serious illness.


Mindful Living Ceylon

Mindful Living Ceylon emerged from the Neerogya Ayurvedic Center and specializes in wellness products made from natural Ayurvedic ingredients including Bhringraj hair care, herbal hair oils, herbal detox teas, and other herbal drinks. The founder's mother is a registered Ayurvedic doctor focused on helping people transition to healthier lifestyles. The Center employs people with disabilities, maintains accessible facilities, and provides a percent of all sales to support traditional Ayurveda families in rural areas. Mindful Living Ceylon aims to engage a new generation of urban Sri Lankans and promote herbal wellness, healthy lifestyles, and environmental sustainability.


Mindful Travels

Mindful Travels is a movement, a community and a platform that makes it easier for conscious travelers to find and connect with like-minded travelers and sustainable businesses in Sri Lanka. The community platform promotes responsible tourism and enables travelers to organize trips, accommodation, services, learning programs, and group activities that prioritize energy conservation, sustainability, and protecting people, heritage, and natural resources. Mindful Travels encourages participants to find ways to give back to the communities they are visiting, connect with local host families and homestays, and self-organize open events, such as beach cleanups, volunteer programs, or board game nights.


Mindia Universe

Mindia collaborates with local producers to create bags and accessories from environmentally responsible materials. They aim to develop long-term relationships with customers and offer durable products that reduce the need for future consumption. Mindia bags are made from upcycled and gifted fabrics.
