Sewn

SEWN aims to provide a brighter future for every individual affected by human trafficking in Northern Ireland. Their "Sew and Skill" program facilitates community engagement, confidence building, creative development, and upskilling and supports survivors with their ongoing journey of recovery, independence, and freedom. Participants create natural Irish linen tea towels, napkins, tablecloths, cushions, placemats, coasters, and custom housewares. Products are durable, made to last, and free from plastic packaging. SEWN is a business enterprise within Flourish NI, a registered charity. All profits are reinvested to provide additional services to human trafficking survivors. Flourish NI is part of the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) and the Human Trafficking Foundation.


Seylanta Organic

Seylanta Organic uses organic certified tea and Ayurvedic herbs to prepare a special wellness blend. They also offer a premium organic black tea. Seylanta Organic is committed to ethical conduct and environmentally responsible practices and sees business as a "matter of human service."


SEYO Design

SEYO Design connects contemporary style with Peruvian cultural heritage. They partner with local artisan workshops in Peru to create handwoven natural fiber rugs and cushions inspired by local landscapes and ancient textile traditions. Products are made on demand to avoid overproduction, minimize environmental impact, and support their network of local workshops. SEYO Design also serves as a bridge between international creatives and local artisans. They work with architecture and interior design professionals to coordinate the development of custom carpets from initial consultation to delivery.


Shade House

Shade House creates custom lampshades, table lamps, and wall lamps and repairs and refurbishes existing lampshades and lamps at affordable rates. They focus on providing work-at-home opportunities for women who are unable to access traditional full-time employment. Shade House uses brass from traditional craftspeople in Pilimathalawa, scrap wood from licensed timber mills, natural fabrics like unbleached cotton, silk, and linen, and locally made handloom cotton and batik.


Shakti.ism

Shakti.ism is a not-for-profit social enterprise that empowers, employs, and encourages entrepreneurship in disadvantaged women, particularly those who are at risk of being impacted by gender-based violence. They specialize in housewares, bags, and accessories made from repurposed sari fabrics and other sustainable and natural materials. Shakti.ism provides health and sanitation workshops, menstrual health supplies, additional training opportunities, and rewards programs to maker groups and other disadvantaged women. Their “Sewing the Seeds" project aims to help women in low caste communities and remote villages of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry gain economic independence and break the cycle of poverty. Workers with physical disabilities have access to step-free facilities and adapted workstations and training programs.


Shakti Milan

Shakti Milan, which means "the power of coming together," is a women-led social enterprise that focuses on the economic empowerment of marginalized women in Kathmandu and eastern Nepal. They specialize in bags, accessories, and housewares made from upcycled rice sacks and handwoven Dhaka fabrics. Women workers have access to fair wages, continual capacity building, social security, and insurance. Ten percent from every bag sold is donated to Access, an organization that fights child slavery and human trafficking in Nepal. All other profits stay in the country and are reinvested into education programs and the development of new initiatives. Shakti Milan conducts local awareness campaigns on the importance of reuse and recycling and produces low-cost upcycled bags for local municipalities and rural communities. They compost 100 percent of their biodegradable waste and recycle any waste that is not reusable.


Shakya Herbal

Shakya Herbal has been producing pads and mats that contain Sri Lankan herbs with aromatherapy and health benefits since 2000. They offer herbal yoga mats, meditation cushions, prayer mats, bed pads, pillows, rugs, slippers, and special cushions for lower back pain and hemorrhoid relief. Their unique herbal blends are selected for their calming, cooling, massaging, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. Ingredients include neem, fenugreek, vetiver, jasmine, kollu, nikka, undupiyaliya, and ingini. Shakya Herbal prioritizes Sri Lankan handloom fabric and other sustainable local materials.


Shamba AZ

Shamba AZ is an urban farm in Phoenix, Arizona, that focuses on inspiring people to regain control of their food supply and improve their health and wellbeing. They deliver nutrient-dense fresh produce to their customers within hours of harvesting. Shamba AZ specializes in microgreens, which require 90 percent less water than traditional agriculture. They also offer grow kits and value-added products like microgreens juice and microgreens salt. Shamba AZ supplies local food banks.


Shamrock Squad

Shamrock Squad makes Ireland accessible for all abilities. They organize outdoor walks, activities, workshops, and events for families with additional needs and people with disabilities to reduce isolation, enhance physical and mental health, and promote sustainability and nature learning. Shamrock Squad provides accessibility training and guidance to location managers, business owners, volunteers, and other community members and prepares adjusted maps, sensory stories, sensory coping tools, and event-specific briefings. They negotiate group prices for larger venues to offer free entry for caregivers and reduced rates for family members. Shamrock Squad works with Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, Public Participation Networks (PPN), and Leave No Trace Ireland. They are a company limited by guarantee and reinvest all surplus towards their mission.


Shan Organic Farm

Shan Organic Farm cultivates dry zone vegetables, spices, herbs, and fruits in northeastern Sri Lanka. They practice mulching and mixed cropping and produce their own compost and organic inputs from locally available materials. Shan Organic Farm is verified under a local organic participatory guarantee system (PGS).


Shanthi Maargam

Shanthi Maargam, which means "pathways to peace" in Sinhala and Tamil, provides safe and inclusive space to enhance young people’s emotional wellbeing and create opportunities for learning and growth. They have developed youth counseling protocols and a helpline with local language services that handles calls about suicide, self-harm, and abuse. Shanthi Maargam provides a place for young people to discuss and learn about equitable gender behaviors, sexual and reproductive health, relationships, and life skills. They offer counseling services, therapy, and personal development through art, drama, music, yoga, meditation, and karate. By challenging violent gender roles and providing holistic support to heal past conflict and trauma, Shanthi Maargam aims to build strong and equitable relationships and break the cycle of violence.


Share Agro

Share Agro grows agrichemical-free produce to benefit consumers, farm workers, soil ecology, groundwater, and local biodiversity. They cultivate coconut, banana, passion fruit, soursop, custard apple, avocado, mango, cashew, and jackfruit on 6 acres in Matale district and maintain cows to build soil fertility and control weeds. The farm team uses gliricidia as mulch and green manure, sets pheromone traps to control pests, digs ditches and dams to capture rain water and prevent soil erosion, and irrigates with a solar-powered water pump. Share Agro provides rural employment and encourages neighboring farms to transition to agrichemical-free practices.


Shared Earth

Shared Earth started in 1986 to sell fair trade, ethical, and environmentally responsible products in the United Kingdom and help create a fairer, more sustainable world. They are now the largest retailer and wholesaler of fair trade goods in the country, with an online store and shops in York and Liverpool. Shared Earth imports unique clothing, accessories, jewelry, body care, home and gardenware, toys, games, stationery, zero waste products, and more from partners in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. They pay fair prices, ensure safe working conditions, provide upfront payment, maintain long-term trade partnerships, support artisans and their local communities, and provide employment opportunities for women prisoners who are on parole. Shared Earth works with suppliers to reduce unnecessary packaging and transition to compostable or easily recyclable packaging materials. They partner with GoodShipping to switch from fossil fuels to biofuels and provide carbon neutral imports. Shared Earth is a guaranteed member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO).


Share Local

Share Local enables people to pool and share resources without money. They offer a community platform where members can gift, direct swap, or exchange using points. Members can also join groups to exchange information, organize meetups, and facilitate connection and community.


Sharesource

Sharesource was started to equalize opportunities and unleash human potential by building remote teams of smart people for smart disruptive businesses. They partner with visionary educators in low-income countries to identify talented science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) graduates looking for meaningful work. They then help businesses solving complex real world social and environmental problems create skilled STEM teams from a global talent pool. Sharesource connects their workers with ongoing support, coaches, and their Wellness, Education, and Engagement (WEE) program to facilitate personal and professional growth. They provide cross-skills training for career advancements and transitions and life-skills training in areas like financial literacy and English as a Second Language. Sharesource organizes social impact events and volunteer opportunities in their regional hubs and contributes to Children of the Dump in Manila.


Shashya Prabartana

Shashya Prabartana is a social enterprise started by UBINIG, a pioneer in the organic food movement in Bangladesh. Since 1988, the Naya Krishi Andolon new agriculture movement has been expanding its network of farmers committed to biodiversity-based ecological agriculture. Initially products were only available in rural markets, but now the Shashya Prabartana grocery outlet and home delivery service makes it easier to access safe, natural, and organic food in Dhaka. They offer seeds, nuts, grains, legumes, flours, spices, traditional oils, natural sweeteners, dairy, meat, fish, and a range of specialty products. Proceeds support the Naya Krishi Andolon farmer movement and awareness programs on safe food, nutrition, and health for urban consumers.


Sheablossom

Sheablossom creates livelihood opportunities, empowers women and youth in rural Nigeria, and produces premium quality shea butter, coconut oil, and African black soap. The shea butter is sold locally as an alternative to imported personal care products and is supplied in bulk to cosmetic companies and other international buyers. Sheablossom has developed a climate-smart processing facility in a rural shea producing community that includes a nursery for workers' children, a dining room, and changing facilities. They collect production waste water in a sediment tank, sun dry the sediment, and use it as a source of heat energy to reduce the use of firewood. Sheablossom started the Shea Network Initiative to train shea nut pickers and processors on best practices and international standards and help them form registered cooperatives and clusters for improved market access. They also started a not-for-profit organization called Initiative for Gender Empowerment and Creativity. Sheablossom participates in networks for small business owners and women entrepreneurs in Nigeria.


Shepherd's Delight

Shepherd's Delight offers natural baked goods and empowers orphaned young women at Good Shepherd Convent in Sri Lanka to become confident leaders and develop successful, independent lives. They provide hands-on training in baking and entrepreneurship and sell ginger cookies, peanut cookies, chocolate cookies, and butter cookies to generate income. The young women develop life skills and build savings to pursue higher education and invest in their futures. Shepherd's Delight is committed to affordability, accessibility, and environmental responsibility. They minimize, segregate, and recycle their waste.


She's Eve

She's Eve sells environmentally responsible menstrual pads and uses the profits to address period poverty in Africa. Their biodegradable disposable pads are plastic free and made from organic cotton. Their reusable pads and pouches are made from upcycled waste materials and offcuts from couture fashion brands. She's Eve donates to Padding Africa to train women to make reusable sanitary pads and to supply free sanitary pad kits to help keep girls in school.


Sheworks Atelier

Sheworks Atelier is a circular design studio that utilizes surplus and waste materials from the textile industry in Denmark to create zero waste housewares and accessories. Each piece is handcrafted by immigrant and refugee women in Kolding. In addition to providing jobs for a traditionally marginalized group, Sheworks helps develop skills, self confidence, and community. They raise awareness about responsible consumption and production, reduce demand for new materials, and divert waste from landfills and incinerators.
