Shhh - The Talkshow

Shhh - The Talkshow is an online community talkshow that raises awareness on social topics and gets women talking about topics that are commonly considered taboo. The show provides a platform for ordinary, everyday women to come together in a safe space and have tough conversations in an open, honest, and meaningful way. Episodes have covered a range of topics including menstruation, divorce, childbirth, sexual cybercrime, transgender, unconventional relationships, mental health, child molestation, and rape. The mission is to use the power of women's voices and shared experiences to make Sri Lankans more comfortable with the uncomfortable, discuss differences with dignity and respect, encourage a more open minded and tolerant society, and support positive social change.


SHH!T Happens

SHH!T Happens supplies Australian-made sanitary products and works to solve the challenges of the disability community from the bottom up. They offer toilet paper made from Forest Stewardship Council certified recycled paper and biodegradable intimate wipes that are certified flushable. SHH!T Happens is disability owned and led, donates products to people with disabilities in financial hardship, creates a platform for people with disabilities to share their stories and raise awareness, and provides training, employment pathways, and direct employment for people with disabilities and chronic illness. They use their profits to support other women with disability-led ventures through the Women with Disabilities Entrepreneur Network (WDEN).


Shifa Natural

Shifa Natural provides a range of traditional health products that are difficult to find in Sri Lanka. They focus on restoring health and vitality through natural minerals, herbs, resins, powders, and formulas. Products include diatomaceous earth, bentonite clay, Himalayan salt, activated charcoal, magnesium oil, castor oil, omega 3 capsules, black seeds, frankincense chews, maca, wild honey, honeycomb, prophetic medicines, and miswak natural toothbrushes. Their products are free from artificial additives, preservatives, and GMOs.


Shiki Wrap

Shiki Wrap offers zero waste gift wrap for cleaner oceans and a healthier planet. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of furoshiki, their soft and stretchy gift wrap is easy to use, reversible, machine washable, and doesn't require wasteful tape or ribbon. Shiki Wrap works with artists to create unique prints that can be used for a lifetime of gifting or as headwraps, scarves, or tote bags. The fabric wraps are made in the United States from Oeko-Tex-certified recycled plastic fiber in a WRAP-certified facility. Proceeds from their Ocean Conservation Collection are donated to The Rozalia Project for a thriving marine ecosystem. Shiki Wrap is a member of 1% for the Planet.


Shinjuku Lanes

Shinjuku Lanes sarongs and scarves are inspired by Tokyo, designed in London, and made from environmentally responsible natural, organic, or recycled fabrics. Packaging is compostable and deliveries are offset through carbon removal companies verified by Carbon Direct. Shinjuku Lanes offers scarves made from Global Recycling Standard (GRS) certified post-consumer plastic bottle waste and EU Organic certified cashmere. Their factory is Amfori-audited to ensure ethical treatment of workers and safe working conditions.


Shiranee Joseph de Saram Foundation

Shiranee Joseph de Saram Foundation (SJDSF) provides training and support to children and adults with special needs in Sri Lanka so they can expand their opportunities, reach their full potential for independence, and lead inclusive and fulfilled lives. Each student has an individual education plan with activities based on their specific needs. SJDSF offers a school readiness program for children aged 4 to 7 to build foundation skills for the classroom, vocational training and work readiness programs to prepare young adults to enter the workforce, and life skills programs to support independent living. Speech and language therapy are incorporated into all programs, and financial support is provided for families that are unable to pay. SJDSF also offers art and drama classes, music and movement therapy, counseling and support for caregivers, and training programs for teachers, social workers, medical professionals, and employers seeking to create inclusive workplaces. They organize charity book sales and the sale of students' handmade products. All profits are used to benefit the special needs community. SJDSF is part of the National Action and Coordination Group, a network for child protection in Sri Lanka.


Shiro Products

Shiro Products works directly with growers to produce high quality spices and custom spice blends. They maintain long-term relationships with farmers and source cinnamon, cardamom, clove, pepper, ginger, turmeric, chili, curry leaves, moringa, tamarind, and goraka from producers in Galle, Matara, Ratnapura, Gampaha, Kandy, and Matale. Coriander, cumin, mustard, fennel, and fenugreek are from a known producer in India. Shiro Products is committed to environmentally responsible practices including rainwater harvesting and composting of organic waste materials. They offer discounts or donate products for charitable causes and religious offerings and consistently contribute resources to two elders' homes.


Shohojogita

Shohojogita was started in 2004 to create employment opportunities for disadvantaged and marginalized rural women in Bangladesh through the production of fair trade housewares and accessories. They work with more than 140 artisans that specialize in bags, baskets, and mats made from jute, hogla seagrass, date palm leaves, and other natural fibers. They are also known for their hand woven and hand embroidered textiles and bags made from upcycled and recycled materials. Shohojogita sells their own products locally and works with international partners to develop custom designs for export. The artisans are organized in self-help groups and have access to fair wages, skill training programs, advance payments, and small grants for health, education, and emergency needs. Shohojogita is a member of Banglacraft and Ecota Fair Trade Forum.


ShopBox

ShopBox reduces barriers for small and medium enterprises and makes it simple and affordable for them to sell their product online. Merchants are able to easily set up an online store, manage different payment methods, and accept orders online or in a retail store through a real time point of sales system. ShopBox gives special offers for startups, social enterprises, and responsible businesses that are good for people and good for the planet.


ShoreTrack

ShoreTrack provides vulnerable young people in the Nambucca Valley of New South Wales with the holistic, flexible, and long-term wraparound support they need to re-engage in education and their community, develop work and employability skills, and access qualifications and employment pathways. They start with programs for 10-year-old girls and boys and build consistently through high school and beyond. Young people are referred to ShoreTrack by themselves, family, schools, or community agencies and are often experiencing multiple challenges such as inter-generational unemployment, unsafe home environments, substance abuse, and contact with the juvenile justice system. They choose which skills and industries they want to focus on and learn through experience, immersion, mentorship, and peers. In 2024, ShoreTrack launched STeps, a work-integrated social enterprise that offers lawn maintenance, agriculture, digital metal fabrication, and concreting services. ShoreTrack is registered as a not-for-profit organization and is a member of the Social Enterprise Council of NSW & ACT (SECNA). They reinvest all surplus towards their purpose.


Shrawani Estate

Shrawani Estate is an organic certified farm near the Sinharaja rainforest that has been in the family for 3 generations. They focus on creating a sustainable lifestyle, cultivating the land using permaculture, biodynamic and agroforestry techniques, and maintaining a low carbon footprint. Products include organic tea, cinnamon, pepper, fruits, and vegetables. Shrawani Estate shares their experiences and encourages others to cultivate in a way that preserves the environment, supports clean water, air, and soil and contributes to healthy living. They welcome home stay guests and visitors.


Shwet

Shwet offers hand-embroidered clothing, accessories, and housewares that preserve traditional Chikankari embroidery techniques and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for women from marginalized communities near Lucknow. They provide skill training to self-help groups of women artisans and work with them to develop production systems and market access for their finished products. Shwet uses natural cotton fabric and specializes in affordable office wear. They are a Craftmark-certified economic empowerment initiative by Safe Society and HCL Foundation. Safe Society is part of the Consortium for Street Children, Girls Not Brides, and Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children.


SIC

SIC aims to create more inclusive and accessible workplaces and reduce the disability employment gap in the United Kingdom. They offer online resources, training, workshops, and consulting services to help employers attract, hire, develop, and retain disabled and neurodivergent talent. Their expertise is informed by the latest data and research and grounded in their own lived experience of disability, chronic illness, and neurodivergence. SIC uses the income from their employer services to provide free events, mentor and mentee matchmaking services, and accessible e-learning support to disabled and neurodivergent professionals. They are a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) and a member of Social Enterprise UK, Unltd, and Volunteer Services Birmingham.


Siddhalepa Ayurveda

Siddhalepa was founded in 1937 by Dr Hettigoda, who came from a family of Ayurveda physicians dating back more than 200 years. The company now has an Ayurveda hospital, hotels, local and international spas, and a full line of traditional Ayurveda products. In addition to promoting Ayurveda and preserving Sri Lankan heritage, Siddhalepa has a long history of community service and environmental programs. They support schools in need and provide emergency relief and rehabilitation assistance after natural disasters. At Sri Pada and other annual religious events and pilgrimages, they provide Ayurveda products, drinking water, rest room facilities, waste bins, and environmental awareness programs. They have also placed waste bins and conducted environmental awareness programs in schools, hospitals, and public spaces and supported the conservation of indigenous medicinal plants through rural cultivation, school gardens, and endangered species protection programs.


Sidekick.

Sidekick was started to introduce electric scooters to Sri Lanka as a fun, economical, and environmentally responsible first and last mile transport solution. The Sidekick scooter is lightweight and portable, so it can be used in combination with public transport or as a replacement for fossil fuel powered vehicles for short-distance commutes. Local after-sales servicing is available.


Silaiwali

Silaiwali upcycles fabric waste into soft toys, housewares, and accessories and creates livelihood opportunities for Afghan women refugees in New Delhi. They specialize in hand-stitched dolls and animals made from textile scraps and garment factory deadstock. New Delhi is a transit home for Afghan refugees and Silaiwali works with Afghan women artisans under the guidance of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. They provide fair wages and a clean and safe working environment within walking distance from where the women live. Silaiwali is a guaranteed member of the World Fair Trade Organization and part of MADE51 by UNHCR.


Silence

Silence started in 1979 as a self-help initiative by deaf artisans to increase training opportunities, employment, and social inclusion for deaf and physically challenged people in India. Silence Training Institute provides accredited vocational training, Silence Workshop produces fair trade products for export and for the local market, and the Silence Retail Shop makes these crafts accessible to consumers in Kolkata. Trainees have access to housing and a monthly stipend. Silence staff receive a monthly salary, health and accident insurance, a retirement fund, medical and travel allowances, festival bonuses, and other benefits. Silence is a not-for-profit organization and reinvests all surplus towards their mission. They are World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) Guaranteed Member and a member of WFTO Asia and Fair Trade Forum India.


Silence of Sound Yoga

Silence of Sound shares the wisdom and tools of yoga, sound healing, heart-centered coaching, and peace and conflict resolution to support holistic health and wellbeing and help people embody and radiate peace. They offer coaching, classes, workshops, and retreats online and in person. Yoga sessions are available for all levels and can be modified based on individual needs. Options include vinyasa flow, ashtanga vinyasa, yin, yin yang, SUP yoga, pranayama, yoga nidra, and meditation. Sound sessions include Tibetan singing bowls, tuning forks, and vocals and focus on listening to the silence between sounds, known in Sanskrit as anahata naad. The founder of Sound of Silence Yoga is a Nepali certified sound healer and is registered with Yoga Alliance as a RYT 500-hour teacher.


Simbiyoz Aktivite

Simbiyoz Aktivite is a coworking space and incubation center in Nilüfer, Bursa where social entrepreneurs can grow together. They offer desk and office space, meeting rooms, a library, a cafe, training programs, workshops, and consulting services. Simbiyoz Aktivite works with social entrepreneurs to help them expand their impact. They also organize free training, activities, and social events for young people with disabilities or financial difficulties. They are part of Yekpare Social Enterprise Turkey, Euclid Network, and Healtech.


Singharaja Garden

Singharaja Garden is an eco-lodge near the Sinharaja rainforest World Heritage Site that offers accommodation, yoga retreats, vegetarian meals, and trekking, mountain biking, and kayaking experiences. Their mission is to help visitors "enjoy Sri Lanka sustainably and responsibly." Singharaja Garden uses renewable energy and a biological filtration system for wastewater treatment. They educate guests about waste prevention and responsible travel practices. Food is sourced from an onsite fruit and vegetable garden and from local organic farmers. Team members are recruited from the surrounding community and are provided with on-the-job training, fair wages, which are 35% above customary rates, bonuses, interest-free micro loans, and opportunities for personal development. The founders of Singharaja Garden have been involved in social and environmental projects in Sri Lanka since 2002. They are focused on education and are currently supporting the development of the village school in Yattapatha. Social and environmental volunteer opportunities can be organized for interested visitors.
