OUTsideIN empowers marginalized women in rural West Tennessee through the creation of durable fabric bags and travel gear. They started in 2013 because the largest employer in their county left, taking 2,000 of the best jobs with them. OUTsideIN trains and hires women who have been chronically unemployed due to addiction, incarceration, lack of education, or other barriers to employment. Their travel gear is made in small batches from overrun stock of upholstery-weight fabric that would have otherwise been sent to landfill. They are in the process of developing a residential program for women in recovery with space for six to eight women and their children to live in community and receive counseling, recovery support, and life skills training. OUTsideIN is registered as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and reinvests all surplus towards their mission. They are a member of the Social Enterprise Alliance.
Ovintha Naturals produces nutritious dehydrated mushrooms free from agrichemicals and additives. The initiative started when a couple was searching for vegetarian food options for their daughter and began growing flavorful abalone mushrooms for their own family's consumption. For two years, they visited other producers and learned from specialists how to grow naturally, harvest at the optimal time, process hygienically, and dehydrate properly. When dehydrated, one kilogram of fresh mushrooms reduces to 80 grams, and the flavor intensifies. Ovintha shares preparation ideas and recipes to help more Sri Lankan families transition to natural, meatless food options.

Oxygen Hub is building resilient and sustainable medical oxygen infrastructure across Sub-Saharan Africa. They partner with local entrepreneurs to power the production and distribution of affordable medical oxygen to hospitals and patients in underserved areas. Most countries in Sub-Saharan Africa have less than 10 percent of the oxygen volume needed to treat high-burden conditions like pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and neonatal respiratory syndrome. COVID-19 both exacerbated and highlighted this oxygen supply gap. Oxygen Hub is addressing this challenge through a decentralized, hub-and-spoke network of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) plants. Their franchise model solves challenges of scale and commercial viability and builds locally-led and locally-owned enterprises that are able to operate quickly and efficiently in their home markets and refill and distribute oxygen cylinders with minimal transport costs and delays. Oxygen Hub emerged from Institute for Transformative Technologies (ITT).

Pahadi Zaika targets farmers involved in organic farming and offers prices above the local market rates. For each farmer on the platform, the Pahadi Zaika team makes videos that share their story and the entire process of how their crops are grown, harvested, and processed. These videos are publicly available online and accessible through a QR code on the package and product page. Purchasing from most ecommerce sites can create large volumes of plastic packaging waste. Pahadi Zaika uses glass bottles, jute bags, and natural fiber packaging materials. The only plastic in their packaging is packing tape, and they are looking for plastic-free alternatives.
